What’s in a name?
Mae was the middle name of my late grandmother who wasn’t always understood during her life. She passed when I was 2, but I have a strong spiritual connection to her and share her awareness of misalignment.
I was taught to be ashamed of the “woo” interests in my life, like being fascinated by the moon or collecting crystals. My efforts to “blend in” and be more “professional” left me unable to hold space for the expert (the maven, if you will) I truly was.
But it was also my connection to my grandmother that led me to embracing my true self and encouraging my genius to shine!
I gave my bold, beautiful daughter the same middle name as my grandmother so she could always feel empowered to be exactly who she is.
And I gave my business the name Maevan because it combined Mae + maven (the word for an expert or connoisseur) and embodies exactly who I am and how I want to show up in the world.
