What is SEO?
SEO stands for search engine optimization. It’s the process of putting keywords in the right places on your website so Google can understand what your site is all about, then in turn show it to people who are looking for you.
How do I know if I need SEO?
I may be biased, but I believe everyone needs SEO. Why? Because SEO is the ONLY type of marketing that literally tells us what to say and how to talk about our businesses. If we don’t understand how our dream clients look for us, everything else is a shot in the dark.
When will my site show up on Google after I put keywords on it?
Putting keywords on your website does not guarantee that you will show up on Google. Your keywords need to be aligned with your brand, your content and your site’s authority in order for Google to consider ranking your site. Generally speaking, you can expect to see some keyword movement within 3-6 months after optimizing your website assuming you are using the right keywords in the right places.
How long does it take for SEO to work?
This is unique for each business based on a few varying factors - like how long your website has been around and what type of content you have. Generally speaking, SEO takes 3-6 months to take hold - meaning that’s usually how long it takes for Google to give us a hint at what our next move needs to be. Then, over the next 6 months - 1 year, you will start to see more results (like getting more traffic from Google) as you continue to apply your SEO strategy.
What does it mean to rank on Google?
Ranking on Google means that Google deems your website worthy enough to be listed as a result to someone’s search. There are many layers to ranking on Google, but in high level summary, there are 10 “ranking” spots per page, up to the first 10 pages of search results.
How do I know if my site shows up on Google?
It’s best to work with an SEO expert to get a website audit and a list of what keywords your website is ranking for. If you want to do some research yourself, you can Google your main offers or what you do and see if your website shows up. Or, use a free tool like Google Search Console to see what specific keywords your website shows up for.
