The next time you wonder if SEO is dead, I want you to think about sprinkles on a cake.
Hear me out.
Do you ever go to a bakery and browse the cake display trying to decide which *little treat* you want to get for yourself?
That’s a lot like how your potential clients feel when they’re browsing Google search results.
You’re at a bakery browsing the cake display.
When you’re deciding which cake you want to buy, you’re looking at what’s on the outside.
Sure, maybe you know what flavor it is because the sign says it, but you don’t know the details – like how much filling is in there or if it’s even a good cake.
You’re just going by how attracted you are to the cake on the outside and hoping it’s top notch.
Right?
Think about your website as a cake.
Your SEO keywords are the sprinkles on your website cake.
Now think about Google search results being that cake display.
Your dream client is looking at all the treats, deciding which one they want to pick.
All the different websites in search results are different cakes, with different flavors and different decorations.
Your keywords are the sprinkles on the outside of your website cake that make it extra attractive to that person who doesn’t know what’s inside of your website yet.
Having sprinkles doesn’t make or break the structure of the cake, but it makes it a LOT cuter to that person who doesn’t know what’s inside of your website yet.
Your navigation menu is the frosting that creates a solid structure.
Don’t let it be the goopy, messy kind.
(or the overly sweet kind…ahem…looking at you cute branded names for everything.)
Your site content is the cake.
Your website can’t exist without it.
Nobody sees it until they’re in it.
Make sure it’s good enough to be worthy of a handshake from Paul Hollywood himself.
Still wondering if SEO is worth it?
SEO will give you the recipe you need to create a website strategy AND the keywords on top to make it extraaaaa helpful to your dream clients.
Plus, I’ll work my magic to make it super pretty and functional while I’m in there. 😉
TL;DR: Don’t let your website be the boring vanilla cake that no one picks just because you don’t want to take the time to grab the sprinkles.
